The second day we started out at Gravel Lake and hiked along a series of ridges
which wound between some small lakes and continued along Chikamin Ridge before
passing over to the other side where we descended past Spectacle Lake and ended
up near Lemah Creek.
Do you see that odd red line that goes beyond our campsite? The description
we had of where we were going to camp that night was a bit vague, so we ended up
going through lots of wet brush before realizing the trail was headed up, so there
was no way there were any more campsites any time soon. We retraced our steps and
discovered that the little side trail we had purposely passed by earlier actually
was where we were supposed to camp.
Views from the first stretch of trail. Chloe walked past that little
mountain in the distance just a few days ago.
We wandered over some ridges that looked over Edds Lake (the first picture)
and Joe Lake (the next two).
On the way up to Chikamin Ridge.
This pika was more than happy to pose for the camera.
Spectacle Lake and the trail down toward it.
A waterfall makes a really nice place to stop and refuel.
Uh oh. Those clouds don't look like they're just passing through, do they?
We're overshooting our campsite at this point, walking through absorbant
plants that happily shed their water on us.
Tonight's dinner was under trees and clothed in rain gear.
